Dr. Taki had been seeing patients for a long time on the second floor of a reinforced concrete building in Tondabayashi, Osaka. With a consideration for elderly patients, the residential first floor was renovated into a clinic at the time when his son inherited the dental office.

The residence had Japanese-style rooms. Their fine shoji screen doors and ranma (transoms) were reused to create a pure Japanese-style dental office. The waiting room was designed to be a modern Japanese style with a peaceful atmosphere, which resembles that of a lounge in a Japanese inn. Upon entering the office rooms, there is a different atmosphere of sukiya (tea-ceremony room).

Newly installed eaves and a veranda porch frame the garden, and all of the dental chairs face towards the garden. Dainty shoji screen frames are used as partitions, and ranma are placed on the walls.

The clinic will likely keep an intimate relationship with local patients, and the relationship will be inherited by the son. We hope that the clinic will support community connection.
