奈良県の橋本から十津川方面に165号線を走り30分。河瀬直美監督の映画「萌の朱雀」の舞台となった地域。柿畑が広がる山の中に、この農家があります。先々代が曳き家をしてこの地に定めたとのことですが最初に建てられた年月はわかりません。

村という共同体の習慣が生活を律していた時代の典型的な間取りで慶弔時の座敷を南側のいいところに配置しています。小さな改装を重ねながらも快適とは言えない日常となってしまう原因がそこにありました。日当たりと眺めが良い座敷２間はお客様専用として閉めきられ北側の段差が多い台所と茶の間と寝室　さらに外のトイレで長年生活されていたようです。当初は北側３室の部分改装のつもりでいおられましたが、生活スペースを南側に移すことを提案しました。機能していない座敷を北側に移し友人と楽しく団らんできるリビングを生活の中心に据えるということです。

長年天井裏に隠れていた木構造を露出させあるべき姿に戻して」あげることがコンセプトです。古風な雰囲気に現代的な家具や照明器具をコーディネート。時代の対比にて新しい雰囲気が感じられることを目指しました。

そのために物理的な検討が不可欠になります。屋根　壁　床に断熱材や床暖房を仕込み寒さ対策を万全にしました。
背の高い主人が鴨居で頭を打たないようにご床を下げて段差も解消しました。リビングの床が延長しているかのようなウッドデッキを設けそこから見事な山の稜線が眺められます。床の間には掛け軸サイズの窓を開け山の斜面の彼岸花や草木をライトアップして楽しめます。

お施主さんがつくる大きくて甘い富有柿は口コミだけで出荷先がすべて決まってしまうほどのものです。規格外の重量感は手塩にかけた時間の重みと感じられます。この古民家も地元の　棟梁　大工さん　電気屋さん　設備屋さん　建具屋さんが時間をかけて勇姿を再現しました。人好きで交友が多いお施主さんのこの家でなにかにつけ楽しい宴が催されることでしょう。

The purpose was to "reproduce the original beautiful look’’ of the house.
This project is a renovation of a Fuyu Kaki (Japanese persimmon) farmhouse in Nishiyoshino village, Nara prefecture.
Before the renovation, the best spaces on the south side of the house were closed and dedicated to legal affairs, while the daily living only was taking place on the colder north side rooms of the house.
The couple, soon to be sexagenarian, was hoping for a house where their friends can gather and spend a good time.
For the husband whose head hits the door lintel, the whole floor was lowered to make it accessible. The floors, walls, and ceilings were insulated, the openings replaced, the whole floor plan was changed, and the ceiling was removed to expose the beautiful wooden beams hidden in the attic.
They can enjoy the seasonal wild plants from the glass slit windows in the alcoves.
(Especially the equinox flowers are beautiful)
The old and delicate fitting frames were remade to fit the refurbished dimensions.
Modern lighting fixtures and furniture were chosen to produce an "old and new contrast", and to create a relationship that attracts each other's virtues.
